Professional and Technical Experts provide expertise that directly support the product or service process in an organization. The salary range is from $30,000 to $70,000 annually depending on education, area of expertise, and experience. The work is in an office environment with a significant amount of time spent working with computers and production-related equipment. Occasionally travel is required.

Professional and Technical Experts usually have engineering or a computer technology-related degree combined with relevant experience. They are proficient in the use of computers and specific computer programs, are continuous learners, and they work and manage their time well without supervision. The most important essential skills are numeracy, thinking skills, and computer use.

Requires: Four-Year Degree, Production Experience

Quality Certification Specialist

Ken Wong is a Quality Certification Specialist for the Wood Products Quality Council of Canada (WPQCC) in Vancouver. A graduate of the former Wood Science Program at the University of British Columbia, Ken began his career in the primary sector working in a sawmill. He now works with manufacturers of secondary wood products to improve their products and organization quality. “I realized there was opportunity for growth and challenge here.”

A graduate of the five-year Co-op Degree Program in Wood Products Processing at the University of British Columbia, Jovan returned to the family business after exploring audio recording and considering a career in the radio or film industry. She worked with a variety of companies in the co-op part of the program and really enjoyed the planning layout and design course the most.
