Educational Programs

Graduate Degrees in Wood/Fiber/Forestry

Our graduate program is a broad based one of postgraduate education and research leading to M.Sc. (thesis and non-thesis), M.F., M.A.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees. Full-time professors and staff in the Department of Wood Science and a number of adjunct professors, each with distinctive fields of expertise, provide unique breadth and diversity. Students with a Bachelors Degree enter into a Masters or Doctoral program, to gain a solid background in the breadth in a specific area of interest and demonstrate their ability to carry out research and overcome new challenges. UBC Faculty of Graduate Studies (FoGS) is one of the few faculties in North America with a strong focus on interdisciplinary work. At UBC, studying at the graduate level means liberation from the tight constraints of discipline and department. FoGS offers students an intellectually challenging education through programs that are international in scope, interactive in process and interdisciplinary in content and approach. Here, over 6,000 graduate students each year pursue research in areas that cross boundaries, erasing restrictions that can prevent breakthrough discoveries.
