Carpentry Millwork (Heritage)
This 2 year, fulltime diploma program combines new construction technology with restoration techniques to provide graduates with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform a wide range of carpentry tasks on renovation/restoration projects. Students acquire knowledge of, and an appreciation for, historical Canadian architecture, construction methods, and preservation techniques. They acquire this knowledge from an examination of building styles and traditional building techniques as practised regionally across Canada. In addition, students explore conservation principles and related practical applications according to international conservation charters. Throughout the program, the combination of manual training and academic studies develops a level of competence that provides for the production of the high quality work demanded by the field of heritage restoration as well as renovation, replication and new construction.
