Description

The Technical Services Coordinator coordinates and manages all projects and tasks needed to be completed by the Technical Services department. This will be accomplished by effectively supervising all Design Technicians and overseeing all technical processes and sub-processes. This position is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate preparation of effective engineering designs and layouts for all products manufactured or supplied by the company. The position requires a high degree of technical competency while bridging between the practical situation of the field, production and the requirements of the company.

 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

 

Prioritize all incoming work and assign to the Design Technician best suited to ensure engineering designs and layouts are completed accurately, efficiently and in the timeframe required by the customer.   

 

Assist Design Technicians in determining the most competitive design solution.

 

Interface with the Engineering Manager to address certain engineering situations and to provide customers with other engineering services.

 

Participate daily in the preparation of engineering designs and layouts.

 

Ensure standard operating procedures are established and maintained which reflect best practices within the Technical Services department.

 

Oversee technical planning and control, technical quality, department safety, technical staff HR administration and development of technical information systems as they relate to the Technical Service department.

 

Interface with Technical Sales Representatives to address specific customer needs.

 

Interface with Production Manager to ensure timely delivery of orders and to identify any possible production efficiencies available through alternate engineering and design methods.


Experience & Qualifications

 

Technical diploma or engineering degree.

 

Extensive work experience in the wood truss and engineered wood products industry.

 

Strong knowledge of the engineering of wood trusses, wood I-joists and structural composite lumber products.

 

Comprehensive knowledge of the building and construction process as it relates to single family, multi-family and light commercial wood framed construction.

 

Understanding of local building codes and construction practices.

 

Experience in leading, motivating and developing staff members.

 

Able to protect and reinforce a positive corporate culture.
