Darlene Fudge

Darlene Fudge is a drawer and door hanger in the assembly department at AyA Kitchens & Baths in Mississauga, Ontario.

Darlene has extensive experience working on assembly lines at different types of companies, for example, working with speakers and bath products. From there, Darlene took a position working on the saw cutting boards at a pallet company. Her introduction to the wood industry was through a family connection and she has been working with wood since then.

Working for AyA is exciting for Darlene – she enjoys the fast-paced environment and the opportunity to work with different styles and colours of cabinets. In Darlene’s role, she is responsible for putting the doors on cabinets and installing drawers. Working at AyA allows Darlene to experience the full life-cycle of the development process right from the top, from cutting to finishing. Darlene says, “it’s amazing how everything starts off with wood being cut and being made into the final products.” This is one of the reasons she likes working with wood - when products are completed, they look good.

In order to be successful in her role, Darlene has to be very observant and have good attention to detail at all times in order to make sure everything is right on the final product – if not, she asks the Line Supervisor or Team Leader. To do this, Darlene also needs to be able to interact with management – if she sees something wrong, she is able to get their attention, communicate about the issue with the product and work out a solution.
